The festival started in 2003, with the aim to promote the debate and the participation of citizens in defending Human Rights.
As its name suggests, it uses an effective tool: cinema.

On April 15th, Aia will give a warm welcome to visiting Txakoli wine producers from Getaria, who will have their best wines on offer to all those who make their way to the Gipuzkoan town.
Each year more than twenty producers from the Designation of Origin Getariako Txakolina (from Aia, Getaria and Zarautz) take part in the Txakoli Day celebrations.

The event, that has been held for more than a decade, aims to raise awareness about the characteristics of this emblematic produce from our land.

Shepherds' Day in Ordizia focuses on pastoral practices, shepherds and cheese.
Exhibition and display of rams, lamb tasting and the new Idiazabal Cheese campaign are the most remarkable events included in the programme.

During the morning, more than 2,000 sheep will run through the streets of the Old Quarter in Ordizia, commemorating the flocks of sheep passing through the villages.
Shepherds' Day is also the chosen day to hold the contest/exhibition of the Latxa breed of sheep, one of the most important in the Basque Autonomous Community, both for their quality, as well as for the number of sheep on show (there will be more than 150 of them).
Other activities to take place during the day’s events will be the art of sheep shearing exhibition (manually and mechanically) and a demonstration showing how cheese is made, especially devoted for the kids.
There will also be a fair where typical cheese and produce from Goierri and the rest of Gipuzkoa will be on sale. Music by the local trikitilaris and dulzaineros will provide entertainment and liven up the day.

Throughout the day, apart from events that will make us be more familiar with the pastoral practices, it is worth mentioning that the official presentation of Idiazabal Cheese is bound to take place. Every year, a celebrity related to the product is responsible for presenting the occasion.

Until nealy 40 years ago, most towns in Gipuzkoa preserved their processions. The Second Vatican Council and changes in daily life customs resulted in the disappearance of many of them, although nowadays little by litte they are reviving.

As for Azkoitia, celebrations in this town give the chance to enjoy calmness and time for thoughts. Meantime, onlookers will be able to enjoy the rich folklore though religious rituals that also include processions. Outstanding among the series of activities organised in Azkoitia on this occasion is the procession of the holy burial on Holy Friday evening, when the tomb of Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows is carried through the streets, accompanied by candles and frankincense to the beat of the "armatus" and The Funeral March.

Inhabitants of coastal Hondarribia celebrate Holy Friday and Resurrection Sunday with enthusiasm. On Friday at 5pm the Parish Church witnesses the solemn procession where the Christ's descent from the cross takes place, wrapped up in a 5-m cloth.

By tradition, Segura still celebrates Easter. Processions take place on Maundy Thursday and Holy Friday. Nazarenes, Penitents, Roman soldiers and musicians participate in religious marches along with floats and sculptures that have been kept over centuries in the Parish Church.

Once again, Basque roads become the back for six intense days of excitement-packed cycling. As is now customary, the pulsating race will be divided into six stages: Güeñes-Güeñes (2nd April), Güeñes-Vitoria (3rd April), Vitoria-Bera (4th April), Bera-Eibar (5th April), Eibar-Oñati (6th April) and Oñati-Oñati (7th April). The final stage, a individual time trial, will be so spectacular that will delight fans, as the cyclists have to climb challenging mountain passes.

The Berdel Jaia or Mackerel Day is beyond all doubt one of the most popular and more crowded events of Mutriku. The initiative was launched more than ten years ago by the San Pedro Fishermen's Guild and aims to promote and to spread the quality of the mackerel.
People attending the celebration will have the opportunity to taste this fish cooked in a dozen of different recipes. In fact, thousands of tapas will be served in the famous port of the village, with a common ingredient: mackerel. The local catering establishments will also distribute free tapas made with mackerel.
The same day, a new edition of the sailboats race called "Verdel de Oro" will be hold.

The Azkoitia-Azpeitia half marathon (Diego García memorial) is one of the most important sport events in the province of Gipuzkoa. It is an open race, as the only condition to take part in it is to be over 16 years old (no matter what sex or nationality participants are, or whether they are federated or not).

Each year, more than 1,000 runners take part in the half marathon, although we have to stand out the number of people in the streets cheering and supporting the athletes.

The race will start in the Julio Urkijo street (Azkoitia, near to the Lidl supermarket). The distance (just over 21 kilometres) and the finishing line (next to the Loiola Hotel in Azpeitia) are the same of last edition. Moreover, during the race there will be several provision points, so that runners can get their strength back.
